Washburn House is seeking highly skilled, extremely motivated and seasoned professionals to join us from inception. Our new state of the art treatment program was born on the foundation that together we can transform the lives of patients and their families affected by alcoholism and other addictions. From inception, we will provide a clinical care model that is technology driven, patient-focused, and evidenced-based care across the spectrum of addiction and dual-diagnosis treatment. We are currently searching for Part-time and Full-time Recovery Specialists.


Primary Duties:

The Recovery Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe and stable therapeutic milieu by providing direct supervision of, and supportive interactions, to Washburn House clients who are struggling with the early stages of addiction treatment. The Recovery Specialist is an important part of the multidisciplinary treatment team and will implement treatment plan interventions in the milieu.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise the therapeutic milieu and maintain a safe and stable environment.
  • Provide in the moment, one to one, supportive check-ins to clients in need of support.
  • Respond to client crises and practice pro-active crisis management by addressing basic needs, being respectful, setting appropriate limits and using verbal de-escalation skills.
  • Implement the daily schedule.
  • Oversee client's self-administration of medication, complete proper documentation, and maintain security of medication.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate client activities.
  • Provide client transportation when necessary and appropriate to do so.
  • Provide behavioral observations to the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Be familiar with and help implement client treatment plans.
  • Be familiar with the electronic medical record and complete assigned documentation the same day.
  • Participate and assist in group treatment as assigned.
  • Assist nursing staff in completing toxicology screens.
  • Serve as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team in developing and implementing treatment plans, other assessments, and discharge planning.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, monthy in service training, and regular group or individual supervision with the Lead Recovery Counselor and the Program Manager.
  • Represent Washburn House in a friendly, competent and professional manner at all times in the community and on the telephone.
  • Act as a role model for clients by dressing professionally, behaving respectfully with co-workers and clients, maintaining professional boundaries, and protecting client confidentiality at all times.
  • Provide a consistent message of hopeful encouragement that clients can recover from addiction no matter how challenging their behavior might be.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to actively developing a health community at Washburn House.
  • Any other duties to which assigned.

Education And Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, is required
  • Valid State of MA Drivers License, is required
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree, is preferred
  • Experience in a direct care position in a therapeutic milie, is preferred
  • Knowledge of addictions treatment and recovery model, is preferred
  • Bi-lingual communication, is preferred
